The HKMU admits new students into its postgraduate programmes normally in the Autumn Term. For the 2021 Autumn Term which will start in September 2021 (some programmes offered by the Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration will start in May/June 2021), there are two rounds of application:

1st round:

16 November 2020 (2:00 pm) – 31 January 2021

2nd round:

1 February 2021 – 31 July 2021
(For applicants not requiring a student visa)

Note: The University has not granted any degree of authority to any intermediary organizations or agencies to recruit or admit students, nor has it made any commitments with such agencies. The University will not provide special consideration or priority to any admission applications related to such agencies.
All individuals seeking to study at HKMU must submit their applications through the official channels specified by the University. Only those applicants who meet the necessary eligibility requirements will be considered for admission.

The following documents should be submitted with your application. Original documents will need to be presented for verification upon request by the University.

I. Identity Document

• For local applicants:

◦ a copy of HKID card

• For overseas applicants:

◦ a copy of passport or other identity proof

• For mainland applicants:

◦ a copy of PRC identity card and passport / exit-entry permit for travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao

Applicants who submitted applications close to the end of the application period should make sure all necessary supporting documents are uploaded for the University’s consideration. Applicants may be required to supplement documents within 3 days from the date of application, otherwise the University may not be able to assess the application for the current admission cycle due to insufficient documents. It is the responsibility of the applicants to ensure documents are submitted in full for consideration.

II. Academic Qualifications

Important note: all applicants are required to sign and upload a consent form during application stage in order for the University to verify the authenticity of applicant’s qualification directly with the awarding institution. Failure to submit a signed consent form may result in your application not being processed.

• For academic qualifications obtained in mainland China:

◦ a copy of transcript, graduation certificate award certificate of ALL your academic qualifications (e.g. Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, Junior College, or any other relevant qualifications) and Online Verification Report of Higher Education Qualification Certificate issued by the China Higher Education Student Information and Career Center (CHESICC)
(Please set the validity period of the report as either 6 months or the longest available.)

• For academic qualifications obtained in local institutions or non-local institutions excepting mainland China:

◦ a copy of transcript and graduation certificate of qualifications

◦ (Applicable to mainland applicants only) a copy of Verification Report of Qualification issued by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE)

III. Proof of English Language Proficiency (if applicable)

• a copy of supporting document proving that your Bachelor’s Degree adopted English as the medium of instruction

• a copy of IELTS / TOEFL / CET-6 score report

IV. Professional Qualifications / Scholarships / Work Experience (if applicable)

V. Additional Documents Required by Specific Programmes

• Master of Arts in Chinese Literature (MACLF):

◦ a research statement in Chinese (around 1,000 words)

• Master of Arts in Creative Writing (MACWF):

◦ a portfolio of art, design, media or written work

• Master of Arts in Cultural Leadership (MACULEF):

◦ curriculum vitae and a motivation letter;

◦ a portfolio of professional activities (if available)

• Master of Nursing (Chinese Medicinal Nursing) (MNCMNF) / Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (Chinese Medicinal Nursing) (PDNCMNF):

◦ a copy of Practising Certificate and Certificate of Registration / Certificate of Enrolment issued by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong

• Master of Science in Smart Ageing and Gerontology (MSCSAGF):

◦ a personal statement (written in English with not more than two pages) and Curriculum vitae

For local applicants: HK$ 300 per programme
*For non-local applicants: HK$ 950 per programme

*Non-local applicants are those who (1) require a student visa to study in Hong Kong, or (2) hold a visa under the “Immigration Arrangements for Non-local Graduates” (IANG), or (3) hold a dependent visa and aged 18 years old or above when they were issued with such visa by the Director of Immigration.

Application fee is not refundable or transferable to another term or another use. HKMU or LiPACE higher diploma graduates will benefit from an application fee waiver.

Notification of results of the applications will normally be available online in around 8 weeks provided that all application documents have been submitted in full, however, this timing may differ for different programmes especially those which require interview arrangement as interview arrangements will be processed in batches. MSCCESF programme will notify applicants of their admission results in March and in September, for Autumn term and Spring term admissions respectively. Applicants are reminded to check your emails regularly for any updates. Unsuccessful applicants will also be notified in writing.

1. Applicants should submit their applications early as applications will normally be processed on a rolling basis. Once the quota is exhausted, further applications will not be accepted.

2. To comply with the requirements of the HKSAR Government’s Office of the CEF, the University will not offer any tuition fee discounts or reduction to students applying for ‘CEF reimbursable courses’.

3. A student enrolled on any full-time taught postgraduate programme of the University should not simultaneously register to study for another qualification at this University or at any other institution, except with prior approval from the University. Students in breach of this regulation may be subject to discontinuation of studies by the University.

4. Please refer to HKMU website for the latest programme information. The University reserves the right to make any necessary changes.

5. Applicants who submitted applications close to the end of the application period should make sure all necessary supporting documents are uploaded for the University’s consideration.
