JUPAS Admission - Hong Kong Metropolitan University
Overview

Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) (formerly known as “The Open University of Hong Kong”) has participated in the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS) since 2007. JUPAS is a scheme and the main route of application designed to assist local students with Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination results (past and / or current) to apply for admission to

1. Self-financing Programmes offered by HKMU;

2. Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professionals/Sectors (SSSDP) Programmes; and

3. University Grants Committee (UGC)-funded Programmes.

For 2024/25, HKMU’s minimum HKDSE Examinations score admission requirements for JUPAS admission are as follows:
HKDSE Subject
Level
Chinese Language
3
English Language
3
Mathematics (Compulsory)
2
Citizenship and Social Development
Attained
Any two Elective Subjects*
2

* Unless otherwise stated in the Programme-specific subject requirements, HKDSE Category B subjects (Applied Learning) with attainment at “Attained” or above; or Category C subjects (Other Languages) with attainment at grade E or above can be considered elective subjects. Mathematics Extended Part (i.e. Module 1 (Calculus and Statistics) / Module 2 (Algebra and Calculus)) can also be counted as an elective subject. If applicants have taken both Module 1 and Module 2, only the module with the best result will be taken into consideration for the calculation of the JUPAS admission score.

The University accepts combined results of HKDSE Examinations. The best results will be considered for meeting the entrance requirements and for the calculation of admission scores under JUPAS.

                                      1. Score is computed by multiplying the converted points (Level 2 = 2 points, Level 3 = 3 points, Level 4 = 4 points, Level 5/5*/5** = 5/6/7 points) of each of the 4 Core subjects and 1 Elective subject in HKDSE by the respective subject weighting as stipulated by the programme concerned, and then adding the products of each of the 5 subjects together. The admission score is normally calculated based on 4 core subjects and 1 elective subject for all programmes except JS9530, JS9540, JS9550, JS9560, JS9570, JS9580 & JSSU55, of which the admission scores are calculated based on the best 5 subjects.

                                      2. This Score Calculator is not applicable to Non-Chinese-Speaking (NCS) applicant who holds Alternative Qualifications in Chinese Language (ACL).

                                      3. All weighted scores are calculated based on programme-specific formulae, which may assign a heavier weighting to certain subjects that the programmes have particular requirements.

                                      4. The weighted admission scores have taken heavier subject weighting, if any, into account. The scores and subject weighting may vary from year to year and should only be used as reference.

The composite tuition/programme fees listed above include laboratory/practicum/immersion course fees, etc., if applicable.

There will be an annual adjustment of tuition fees which will be capped at the actual Composite Consumer Price Index (CCPI) to be announced by the Government. The estimated composite tuition/programme fees for the whole programme do not take the CCPI for the second to fourth (or fifth) year, i.e. 2024/25 to 2026/27 (or 2027/28) academic year, into account.

A student’s eligibility for the above subsidy and the annual subsidy amount allocated in an academic year is subject to EDB’s final approval.
