Hong Kong Future Talents Scholarship Scheme for Advanced Studies (FTSS)

As announced in the 2024 Policy Address, the Hong Kong Government has set up the Hong Kong Future Talents Scholarship Scheme for Advanced Studies (FTSS) to attract meritorious local students to pursue further studies in strategic priority areas that support the development of Hong Kong.

In recognition of HKMU’s commitment to offering innovative and multidisciplinary programmes that nurture talent for a diverse range of sectors, the Education Bureau (EDB) has allocated to HKMU 98 scholarship places across 22 taught postgraduate programmes for 2025/26 academic year —the first cohort under the FTSS.

For more information about the Scheme, please visit the EDB website.

Amount of Scholarship

The FTSS offers a maximum scholarship of HK$100,000 per eligible student for the entire programme, regardless of the programme’s duration or mode of study (full-time/part-time).

If the net tuition fee (after deducting other scholarships or subsidies) is less than HK$100,000, the scholarship amount will be adjusted downward accordingly.

The scholarship only covers the tuition fees for courses required to fulfil the prescribed graduation requirements of the designated programme. Any additional courses or credits taken beyond these requirements will not be covered by the FTSS and remain the student’s financial responsibility.

Eligibility

  • Local students1 admitted to the designed TPG programmes for the 2025/26 academic year, either in full-time or part-time study mode;
  • To prevent double subsidy, students receiving other forms of government scholarships, including the Continuing Education Fund (except student financial assistance), for pursuing the same programme will not be considered.

Notes:

  1. Scholarship applications are restricted to local students enrolled in designated programmes. According to the EDB, non-local students are defined as those holding any of the following documents issued by the HKSAR Immigration Department:
    • student visa / entry permit, or
    • visa / entry permit under the “Immigration Arrangements for Non-local Graduates” (IANG), or
    • dependent visa / entry permit issued when aged 18 or above.

List of Designated Programmes

The following is a list of 22 TPG programmes selected by EDB for the first cohort of the FTSS (2025/26 Intake). A total of 98 scholarship places are available.
