The aim of the programme is to produce graduates who can be usefully employed as allrounders in the testing and certification professionals industry; and who will have the ability to contribute to the development of new testing and certification methodologies. They should be able to anticipate the advancement of basic science and technology, and respond to the changing needs in any discipline of the testing and certification profession. They should also be able to demonstrate a broad understanding of a range of principles and practical skills in testing and certification profession.

Besides the normal route based on HKDSE result, this programme also provides the practical route based on the assessment which follows the quality assurance of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) mechanism. It provides the opportunity for the students who showed their interests and talents in the testing and certification industry to join relevant degree programme. In general, the knowledge asked in the assessment should be found in the relevant Applied Learning (ApL) courses.
