The aim of the programme is to produce graduates who can be all-rounders in the testing and certification industry; and contribute to the development of new testing and certification methodologies. They will be able to anticipate the advancement of basic science and technology, and respond to the changing needs in any discipline of the testing and certification profession. They will also be able to demonstrate a broad understanding of a range of principles and practical skills in testing and certification profession.
Besides the normal route based on HKDSE results, this programme also provides practical route admission based on the quality-assured Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) mechanism. Applicants may obtain the required RPL credits through RPL assessment that recognises their relevant prior learning, skills and work experience in the testing, inspection and certification (TIC) industry or successful completion of the Certificate in Testing and Certification (CTC) offered by HKMU SST. These routes offer an opportunity for applicants who have demonstrated interest, talent and relevant experience in the TIC industry to pursue a related degree programme.
Depending on the RPL credits attained, applicants may be admitted at different stages of the programme, as shown below:
