Introduction

This programme is designed for students interested in testing science. The programme covers food, environmental protection and chemical and microbiological testing, emphasising the real-life application of Chemistry and Biology. The programme aims to equip students with theoretical, technical and practical knowledge in the aspects of testing, inspection and certification, allowing graduates to play a key role in the testing, inspection and certification industry. Career Prospects

Graduates have broad employment opportunities in testing and certification industry, such as laboratory chemist or specialist, analytical technologist, QA & QC technician and inspection & certification officer in government sectors, university research laboratories, commercial testing laboratories, manufacturers and procurement companies. Areas of work include testing, inspection and certification services in consumer product testing, pharmaceutical & food testing, environmental testing, research & development and quality control & assurance, etc.

Further Studies

Graduates would be qualified to further study in any tertiary institutions in Hong Kong and elsewhere. Graduates can pursue a variety of taught and research postgraduate programmes in testing science, applied sciences or other related disciplines, including but not limited to MSc or MPhil in Analytical Chemistry, Molecular Biotechnology, Biochemical and Biomedical Sciences, Food Science and Technology. With the acquired knowledge in accreditations and certifications, master degree programmes in the relevant area like accreditation chemistry, laboratory and engineering management are also available for graudates who wish to take up more management responsibilities in their future career.

A student admitted to the programme through Year 3 Entry is required to complete a total of 80 credits.
