Introduction

The aim of the programme is to produce graduates who can be usefully employed as allrounders in the testing and certification professionals industry; and who will have the ability to contribute to the development of new testing and certification methodologies. They should be able to anticipate the advancement of basic science and technology, and respond to the changing needs in any discipline of the testing and certification profession. They should also be able to demonstrate a broad understanding of a range of principles and practical skills in testing and certification profession.

Career Prospects

Graduates will acquire a broad knowledge of the concepts, techniques, and tools in testing, inspection and certification. Graduates will find career opportunities in a broad range of testing, inspection and certification industries. Typical positions include testing engineer, quality engineer, testing specialist, auditors, production supervisor and merchandiser.

Further studies

The applied degrees have the qualifications equivalent to those of conventional academic degrees. Therefore, their articulation on postgraduate programmes is the same as those of conventional academic degrees.

Graduates would be qualified to further study in testing science, applied sciences, engineering sciences, testing and certification, or related areas in any tertiary institutions in Hong Kong and elsewhere. The available postgraduate programmes include but not limited to MSc in Environmental Management, MSc in Electrical Engineering and MSc in Electronic and Information Engineering, MSc in Mechanical and Automation Engineering and MSc in Systems Engineering and Engineering, and MSc in Food Analysis and Food Safety Management.
