All individuals seeking to study at HKMU must submit their applications through the official channels specified by the University. Only those applicants who meet the necessary eligibility requirements will be considered for admission.
All applications are considered on a competitive and rolling basis. The University considers an applicant’s whole profile. As such, satisfying the university admission requirements does not guarantee admission.

If you have already applied through JUPAS, you are NOT eligible to apply for the Bachelor’s Degree with Honours programmes (Year 1 entry) through non-JUPAS route in the same academic year. If you make applications to both JUPAS and non-JUPAS routes, you will be asked to withdraw either application.
There is a separate application procedure for applicants who will be sitting for the 2025 National College Entrance Examination (NCEE/Gaokao). Such applicants should refer to Admissions for Mainland Students for the details. All applications must be submitted via online application on or before the respective deadline.

Interview is normally required for admission via direct application. Applicants will be informed when they are being shortlisted and invited for interview. Applicants will receive the notification via email and SMS from the Admissions Team (Undergraduate) of the Registry. It is important that applicants should check their email regularly and make themselves available to attend the interview.

For some programmes, applicants may also be required to attend a written test.

Notification of results of the applications will normally be sent to successful applicants after the interview. Applicants may consider your application for admission to be unsuccessful if you do not receive any result from the University by early-September 2022.

If the applicant is given an offer, this offer will be the only offer he / she received from the University within the same academic year. The University will start considering the applicant’s application from the first programme choice until an admission offer is made or the applicant has already been considered by all the programmes have been selected. If the applicant has received an offer from any one of his / her selected programmes, the application of the programme choices at a lower priority, compared to the offered programme (if applicable), will not be further processed.

Documents Required

The following documents should be submitted with your online application. If applicants are currently in the final year of their studies, they may still apply for the programme, but they are required to submit the final official transcripts and certificates before starting your study at HKMU.

If you are eventually given a conditional offer, relevant original documents* will need to be presented for verification purpose by the deadline stipulated in the offer letter. Only official documents / certificates of relevant qualifications issued by the official organisation will be accepted.

The University reserves the right to decide whether the submitted documents are acceptable. You may be requested to apply for official transcripts and/or language test reports to be sent directly to HKMU from the issuing universities/authorities. Failure to do so may result in disqualification of your application and subsequent enrollment at the University.

Documents printed from the system without a proper letterhead or an official chop will not be accepted.

Official academic documents, which are not in English or Chinese, should be submitted with an official English translation that was prepared by your high school or by a recognized translation service provider. The presence of the school’s / translation service provider’s stamp is required.

Applicants who possessed qualifications from institutions in Mainland China are required to provide a valid Online Verification Report of Higher Education Qualification Certificate (教育部學歷證書電子註冊備案表) issued by the CHESICC (學信網) together with their transcripts and graduation certificates.

Applicants may be requested to provide verification reports of the qualification obtained.

Only original copies of qualifications will be used for verification purposes.

III. Proof of English Language Proficiency (if applicable)

All applicants seeking admission to full-time undergraduate programme are required to meet the English language requirements and submit the official documents.

TOEFL and IELTS scores are considered valid within 2 years after the test date.

The test must be taken at official test centres.

The certified true copy must be issued by the official organization or relevant test organization.

Applicants may be requested to provide the original official documents for verification.

IV. Additional Supplementary Documents

Applicants may be requested to submit additional information or documentary proof if deemed necessary. Applicants are required to provide accurate and complete information in support of their applications.

If you submit more than one application, the University will only accept and process the first application.
The application is for new admission only. Current HKMU undergraduate students who wish to apply for another programme should approach the Enrolment Team (Undergraduate), Registry.
Application without sufficient supporting document(s) may not be processed and may cause delays.

The subsidised places of the designated first-year-first-degree (FYFD) programmes are allocated mainly through the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS) to ensure eligible students are selected through a merit-based system. From the 2023/24 academic year, participating institutions are allowed to admit non-JUPAS local students via direct admission of no more than 20% of the subsidised places of each designated programme, and the non-JUPAS admission may take place in parallel with JUPAS admission.
Non-JUPAS local applicants may submit their online applications for these SSSDP intake places. Application deadlines may vary from programme to programme. Applications are normally processed on a rolling and competitive basis. A programme will close once all of the available places have been filled. All information provided in the Application Form and other attachments will only be used for admission purposes. If an offer has not been made to the applicant, all documents submitted will be destroyed and will not be returned after the completion of the admission exercise.
